I’ve got thoughts more tangled than my earphones

Your chest constricts and it felt like every last ounce of oxygen has been sucked out of your body. You gasp for air but your nostrils are blocked with a ceaseless list of things you should be doing, of goals you should be achieving, of places you need to be. That abyss of darkness inside you suddenly bursts, as the snakes of worries and the worms of fears slither and wriggle out into every crack of your body, engulfing you into the void of terror. But you refuse to reach out, you drain yourself of tears hoping the evil would escape with those few drops of salty liquid. You did not know it stays and it’s eating you alive. Then you carry on with your life, blocking the terrifying events away from your mind, thinking it’s not big deal, while the demons inside you are chewing on your soul, sucking the spirit out of your core, consuming the light from your being and replacing them with sinister shades of malice.

Quote of the dayWithin the chaos of our shame and disappointment and rage there is meaning, and within that meaning is the possibility of rescue." - Steve Almond, Tiny Beautiful Things
